BOOK FAIR

HCMS Library HOLIDAY BOOK FAIR
December 5 - December 9
  



Our Winter Holiday BOOK FAIR is next week! 
- December 5 - 9  (8:00am - 4:30pm) in the Library
- Family Night on Tuesday, December 6 - 4:00pm-6:30pm  

     **Fun for the whole family!  You don't want to miss this!**
     5:00 - 5:30 - carol with the HCMS Choir
     5:30 - 6:30 - Author, Keith Graves presents - fun author appropriate for 

          all ages (does illustrations as well)
     Shop, drink hot chocolate, and be merry! 
- Payment: cash, CC, checks made out to "HCMS Library"
- Back by popular demand:  spin prize wheel and guess the candy in the jar contest
- Students will shop with their Language Arts classes during the school week: 
    Monday, December 5: 6th Grade
    Tuesday, December 6: 8th Grade
    Wednesday, December 7: 7th Grade

James Dashner to visit HCMS!


James Dashner, author of the Maze Runner trilogy, will be visiting HCMS on Friday, October 21 from 2:55 pm - 3:52 pm.
What: James Dasher hanging with the HCMS students, talking, answering questions, and signing books
When: Friday, October 21 (2:55 pm - 3:52 pm)
Who: Everyone
Where: Large Gym
Bring: Order form with payment to purchase books and get them signed. You can turn your order form in early! The earlier, the better! The first 40 people to turn in their order forms, will receive a very special prize!

AUSTIN TEEN BOOK FESTIVAL - OCT 1

The AUSTIN TEEN BOOK FESTIVAL is only a couple of weeks away! Yipeee!!
Make plans to attend! Why, you ask?
Because:
A) It's awesome,
B) You'll meet 28 authors
C) You can get your picture taken in a way-cool green screen photo booth
D) You get to buy books and get them signed by the authors
E) It's awesome (did I already say that?),
F) Many of your teachers will be offering extra credit if you attend.

Calling all eReaders!

The library has three new Nook Colors available for student checkout to read eBooks!  We'd love to provide more eReaders to students so we're asking for your help!  Donate your eReaders and Barnes & Noble gift cards to the library!

BookSpring READ-A-THON is coming up!

The anual BookSpring Read-A-Thon begins next Monday, January 24.
Students will receive their packets this week and begin collecting pledges and donations. From January 24 - Feb 4, they will record their daily pages read and then collect their money.

UPCOMING LIBRARY EVENTS!!!

We've got a few events coming up in the library:

LONE STAR BREAKFAST PARTY
Tuesday, January 11 (7:50 am - 8:20 am)
Students who have read at least 10 Lone Star books are invivted to the breakfast party.  Invitations will be sent out today. 
We will be eating donuts, kolaches, playing games, and winning prizes!

CHESS TOURNAMENT
Wednesday, January 12 - ALL LUNCHES
Sign up today to compete in the Library Lunchtime Chess Tournament
Only 20 spots available per lunch!
Come to the library at the beginning of lunch (with you food)
